LaSalle Police Service R.I.D.E. Program

During the evening of Thursday, October 28th, 2021 the LaSalle Police Service conducted a R.I.D.E. Program at various locations in the town. The officers canvassed approximately 477 vehicles and conducted 4 roadside sobriety tests, which resulted in one 7 day licence suspension. Officers also issued 12 cautions under the Highway Traffic Act. Please don’t drink and drive or drive high. Plan ahead for alternate means of transportation.

LaSalle Police Seeking to Identify Person Who May Have Information About a Lost Wallet

On October 8th, 2021, at around 6:00 p.m., The LaSalle Police Service received a report from a resident who left their wallet in a cart at the LCBO on Malden Road in LaSalle. When they immediately returned, the wallet was no longer there. Officers have reviewed video footage at the LCBO and confirmed that the wallet was in fact left in the cart. Police are requesting the person that may have located the wallet to contact the LaSalle Police Service to turn it in so it can be returned to the owner. LaSalle Police Service 12th Annual Summer Safe Cycling Program has Concluded

For the last 12 summers, LaSalle Police Officers have engaged in a positive ticketing campaign called LaSalle Police Service Annual Summer Safe Cycling Program. Positive ticketing is receiving a reward for doing the right thing. This program was started by the LaSalle Police Service with the intent on encouraging our youth to wear their safety equipment while riding a bicycle as well as practicing safe riding. It also provides an opportunity for positive interactions between the police and our young community members as well as building relationships with our community partners. Amherstburg Female Issued Three Day Driver’s Licence Suspension

An adult female from Amherstburg was issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension just before 2:00 a.m. on Monday, October 18th for having a blood-alcohol level of more than 50 mgs while operating a motor vehicle. A LaSalle Police Officer stopped the Chrysler 200 on Malden Road for a Highway Traffic Act offence and could smell alcohol from within the vehicle while speaking with the driver. A test was administered to determine the driver’s blood alcohol concentration after which she was issued with the suspension. Her driver’s licence was seized and suspended for three days. The LaSalle Police Service has recently responded to a number of complaints regarding youths riding e-bikes in LaSalle as well as interfering with traffic. In several of the cases, the person(s) operating the e-bikes were under the minimum age of 16 years and were operating the vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to themselves and to other motorists. Scams Requiring Google Play Cards as Payment

LaSalle Police Service is making everyone aware of a scam involving the purchase Google Play Cards but could involve any type of redeemable gift card. Two residents reported having received e-mail requests from friends, asking them to purchase Google Play Cards and provided a tearful story as to why they required this. The e-mails appeared to be legitimate and from people they knew. Both persons purchased hundreds of dollars worth of the cards.
