On September 20, 2019, officers received a notification from the Windsor Police Service with reference to a person that may be suicidal who was operating a motor vehicle possibly headed into LaSalle. The officers received a description of the vehicle and driver. A short time later, a LaSalle Police Officer located the vehicle and person parked in a parking lot on Front Road. The driver attempted to drive away from the officer during which time, the officers’ vehicle was struck. The officer immediately followed the fleeing vehicle a short distance at which point, the vehicle stopped and the driver was arrested. A 25 year old Windsor man faces charges of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight From a Police Officer and Fail to Stop a the Scene of an Accident. The driver was also transported to an area hospital for psychiatric assistance.
