Cyber Spat

A local woman attended the station to file a harassment complaint against a former co-worker. What started off as an innocent chat on Facebook Messenger ended up getting mean spirited, and found its way to the police station’s front lobby. The two women who were involved in this incident are adults and should have known better then to continue a belligerent/hurtful chat. Since both participated in the conversation equally, they were advised they shared equal responsibility in the matter. Theft of Utility Trailer

On Wednesday, June 21st, 2017 LaSalle Police received a report of a utility stolen trailer from the St. Francis St. area. The trailer had been parked in the area for approximately one month. The trailer is described as an open utility trailer, 12 feet by 6 feet and is made of galvanized steel with Ontario licence plate N1890D. Prank Call

A young resident attended the station to report that someone had left a message on his voicemail indicating they would shoot him. The young man went on to say that he has no known enemies and was worried about the threat. The investigating officer listened to the voicemail, but could not confirm the threat as the voice was muffled. While trying to listen to the message again, the officer noted that the voicemail message was from an existing contact in the young man’s phone. On Thursday, June 15, 2017 at approximately 10:00 pm, an officer conducted a vehicle stop during a RIDE Progam; the officer had reasonable grounds to believe the individual was operating their motor vehicle after consuming alcohol; a roadside alcohol screening test was conducted; as a result, a 3-day licence suspension was issued.

Cyclist Struck

On Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 12:23 pm, LaSalle Officers assisted OPP at the intersection of Howard Avenue and Laurier Parkway with a motor vehicle accident involving a cyclist; a female cyclist was transported the hospital with unknown injuries. Police remind drivers to be aware of the increased numbers of cyclists on the road during the summer season.

Dog Left in Vehicle

On Monday, June 12th, 2017, at 04:20 pm, with the outside temperature reaching 34 degrees Celsius, officers responded to a report of a dog being left in a vehicle at Windsor Crossings Outlet Mall. The officer spoke to the dog owner who indicated he had returned to the vehicle to cool it off. The officer advised the owner of the dangers of leaving an animal in a vehicle on a hot day; Interior temperature of a vehicle is substantially higher than the outside temperature. The officer followed up with the Humane Society.

Suspicious Persons

On Tuesday June 13, 2017 at approximately 04:31 am, an officer was on general patrol and stopped by a citizen informing the officer he saw two males in the area of Michigan Avenue and Delaware Avenue going through vehicles. Both suspects fled on foot. Police conducted an extensive search of the area but could not locate the suspects; please check vehicles, garages, and sheds for any signs of entry or theft.

Strawberry Festival

The 2017 Strawberry Festival is now behind us.  From all accounts it was a resounding success.  LaSalle Police Officers responded to a few minor incidences in the park.  Call volumes to the LaSalle Police Service Dispatch Centre were higher than normal.  Officers were involved in several calls for service including impaired driving, break and enter, family disputes, domestic related calls, mischief complaints and drunk and disorderly calls.
