Driving Issues

Over the past few weeks we have received numerous calls for speeding on main arteries as well as residential streets. The complaints are regarding cars, trucks, motorcycles, and ATV’s (which by the way are prohibited on Town streets).  We will be stepping up our patrols in the areas we keep hearing about. We would like to remind all residents and those driving through LaSalle to please stick to the speed limits; they are there for a reason. We don’t want to see any further accidents. OPP/LaSalle PS Gun Amnesty – April 2018 Ontario Provincial Police and LaSalle Police are holding a month-long gun amnesty program in April 2018 The Amnesty will apply to any documented or undocumented firearms and other weapons and accessories. OPP/LaSalle Police Service will also accept any amount of unwanted ammunition The Gun Amnesty will provide residents with a safe way to surrender weapons, imitation weapons and related equipment and ammunition which they are not legally entitled to own or no longer want, to enhance public and police officer safety. Automated Licence Plate System

The LaSalle Police Service will soon be deploying an Automatic Licence Plate Recognition System equipped vehicle. The system was recently purchased using funds received through a provincial grant to combat Human Trafficking. The system will be in use in areas where Human Trafficking may be occurring as well as other areas of the Town of LaSalle. The Automated Licence Plate Recognition System (ALPRS), which is installed on a marked police cruiser, automatically scans licence plates up to 20 metres away.
