For the last 13 summers, LaSalle Police Officers have engaged in a positive ticketing campaign called LaSalle Police Service Annual Summer Safe Cycling Program. Positive ticketing is receiving a reward for doing the right thing. This program was started by the LaSalle Police Service with the intent of encouraging our youth to wear their safety equipment while riding a bicycle as well as practicing safe riding. October 6th, 2022 Report #22-7089 The LaSalle Police Service is investigating after a 7-year-old, LaSalle girl was involved in a collision with a car on Matchette Road just before 4 pm on Wednesday afternoon. Investigation into the accident revealed that the girl and some schoolmates had just gotten off the school bus on Kenwood and were proceeding home on foot along Matchette Road. The girl suddenly darted across Matchette Road just as a vehicle was passing by. On Wednesday, September 28th, 2022, Sandwich Secondary School Officials notified the LaSalle Police Service that they had discovered some concerning graffiti with regards to a threat to burn down the school that was written on a bathroom stall in one of their student washrooms. There was an increased police presence at the school today while they worked with school officials and reviewed video surveillance. Their main objective was to ensure everyone’s safety and to identify the person responsible. Report # 22-6679 The LaSalle Police Service is continuing to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the 8800 block of Howard Avenue, Tuesday morning at about 6:20 AM. Police were called to the scene at that time as a result of a head-on collision between a white Chrysler, PT Cruiser, and a motorcycle. A 17-year-old, male resident of LaSalle was issued a summons for stunt driving after they were caught doing “donuts” in the parking lot at Malden Village Plaza on Malden Road on Monday just before 10:00 PM. A police officer who was near the parking lot at the time, observed the vehicle in the parking lot screeching its tires while going in tight circles and driving at a high rate of speed through the lot. Case #22-6025 An 18-year-old, female resident of Amherstburg was issued a summons for stunt driving after they were caught driving their red Chevrolet Cruze at 127 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Disputed Road on Monday afternoon.
