Civil Dispute

Sept. 4
Officers attended a local residence to mediate a civil dispute regarding sale/purchase of a house. The vendors had turned over a key to the house they were selling to the purchaser before getting their money. The buyer moved into the house shortly thereafter. The two parties then renegotiated an extension to the sale agreement, and both parties advised they would abide by it. The buyer appeared to be having some issues with financing, but assured the sellers that he was going to come through on his promise to pay them. One of the involved lawyers was away on vacation and unable to help. Moral of the story: Get a good lawyer and a seasoned real estate agent who can properly guide you through such processes. The police’s role in such disputes is to keep the peace. We cannot, should not and will not take sides.
