On February 2nd, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. the LaSalle Police attended at the intersection of Donato Drive and Huron Church Line Road in LaSalle for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a Jeep Cherokee and a Honda Accord.
Investigation into the collision revealed that the Honda turned right/north onto Huron Church Line Road from Donato Drive and a short time later was struck, head on, by the Jeep that was travelling southbound in the northbound lane of traffic. During the ensuing investigation into the collision, the driver of the Jeep, an adult female from Belle River, exhibited signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Further tests conducted at the LaSalle Police Service determined that her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
The female driver’s licence was seized and automatically suspended for 90 days and her vehicle towed and impounded for 7 days.
If convicted she will have:
1) A criminal record,
2) For a first offence, a fine of not less than $1500.00. Depending on the circumstance a term of imprisonment may be imposed.
3) For a first offence, a prohibition from operating a motor vehicle for not less than one year and not more than three years.
Please do not drive impaired. Make arrangements for a safe ride home.
