On Sunday June 4th, at approximately 10:00 AM one of our officers was stopped at the intersection of Hwy 18 and Morton Drive when he observed a vehicle go through a red light. The officer followed and stopped the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, the officer immediately detected alcohol on the driver’s breath. When he asked the driver about the alcohol smell, the driver replied he had consumed a few beers the previous evening while watching a hockey game at a friend’s house. The driver was asked to blow into a Roadside Screening Device, and he failed the test. The driver was arrested and brought back to the station where he was administered an Intoxilyzer test. This test revealed that he had almost 1 1/2 times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. The man was charged with the proper offences, and issued a 90 day driver’s licence suspension at the same time.
