On May 9, 2019, LaSalle Police Dispatch was notified by Windsor Police Dispatch of a possible impaired driver currently westbound on E.C. Row expressway possibly entering LaSalle on Ojibway Parkway. An officer who was currently out on a different traffic stop on Front Rd, observed the described vehicle travelling South on Front Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and while speaking to the driver, the officer noted an odour of alcohol from the interior of the vehicle. The officer demanded that the driver provide a sample of their breath into a roadside screening device. After multiple attempts, the driver provided a proper sample which registered a “FAIL”. The driver was arrested for the operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 mg or more of alcohol or more per 100ml of blood. Further testing determined that the driver had almost twice the legal amount of alcohol in their system. They now face criminal consequences for their actions. In addition, their driver’s licence was suspended automatically for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded for seven days. The perpetual message is clear “Don’t Drink and Drive”.
