The LaSalle Police Service is asking the public for assistance in identifying the person in the attached photo concerning a complaint of theft that occurred on Tuesday, November 7th at a retail location on Malden Road, LaSalle.
Store employees reported that at 1:15 PM, the female entered the store with three children. While inside the store, the children were observed placing merchandise, including fragrances into her purse apparently at the direction of the female. An employee confronted the woman as she left the store without paying for any of the items. The woman stated that all the items had been removed from the purse and were left inside the store. She left the premises and some of the items in question were located however the fragrances remained missing.
The LaSalle Police Service has recently investigated a number of fragrance thefts from retail locations with suspects using various tactics to accomplish the theft. Police would like to speak with the individual to investigate this incident further.
The LaSalle Police Service encourages all retail locations that sell fragrances to be aware of this trend, which is not unique to LaSalle, and to employ Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles, such as locking high-end products in glass display cabinets and using quality surveillance systems, to help reduce the incidents of these types of theft.
