LaSalle Police Service 12th Annual Summer Safe Cycling Program has Concluded

For the last 12 summers, LaSalle Police Officers have engaged in a positive ticketing campaign called LaSalle Police Service Annual Summer Safe Cycling Program. Positive ticketing is receiving a reward for doing the right thing.

This program was started by the LaSalle Police Service with the intent on encouraging our youth to wear their safety equipment while riding a bicycle as well as practicing safe riding. It also provides an opportunity for positive interactions between the police and our young community members as well as building relationships with our community partners.

LaSalle Police Officers handed out ice cream cone coupons donated by McDonald’s Ojibway to local youths that officers see practicing “safe” bicycling skills and wearing their helmets. Those youths were also entered in a raffle for a chance to win a bicycle donated by the LaSalle Police Youth Foundation at the end of the summer draw.

This year’s bicycle winner is 14 year old, Finn Sefton. Congratulations Finn and keep wearing that helmet and riding safely.

A special Thanks to McDonald’s Ojibway for their participation in promoting safe cycling.
