LaSalle Towing & Recovery Helps Support Safe Cycling in LaSalle

May 9th, 2023

Rick and Minela Orum, owners of LaSalle Towing and Recovery Inc, on Malden Road in LaSalle have, once again, donated $2000.00 to the LaSalle Police Youth Foundation to be used toward the annual LaSalle Police Bicycle Rodeo.

Their continued passion for ensuring that our local youths learn about bicycle safety and safe riding practices stems from the unfortunate circumstance where their son was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike several years ago and as a result, suffered a significant, life-altering injury.

The Orum’s feel that the annual LaSalle Police Bicycle Rodeo is a perfect opportunity for them to give back to the community by investing in a program designed to teach bicycle safety to our children and reached out to LaSalle Police Service Community Liaison Officer, Senior Constable Seguin to get involved.

On Tuesday, May 9th, 2023, Chief Davies, Staff Sergeant Sinjari, and Senior Constable Seguin attended LaSalle Towing and Recovery Inc, located at 9350 Malden Road in LaSalle to accept the donation.

The LaSalle Police Youth Foundation was founded in 2002 with the primary goal of offering assistance to youth and family-related charities, events, activities, and programs throughout LaSalle and Windsor-Essex County. All funds raised through amazing donations such as this as well as our annual golf tournament have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, all of which are donated back to the community.

Thanks to the Orum’s, the 2022 LaSalle Police Bicycle Rodeo was a roaring success and with their support will continue to be in 2023.  This year’s rodeo will be held on June 3rd, from 10 am-1 pm at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex.  There will be instructors from LaSalle Police and Bike Windsor Essex on hand to assist LaSalle Police Officers in teaching our young riders the necessary skills to ride safely.

After the skills lessons, we will have a professional BMX stunt Rider who will wow us with some amazing skills and stunt show for the participants.  There will also be a raffle of four bicycles and a pizza lunch supplied…all free of charge. Further details of this event will be advertised soon.

Anyone or any business that is interested in finding out how they can get involved to assist the LaSalle Police Youth Foundation in its goal to support our local youths is encouraged to reach out to Senior Constable Terry Seguin for more information at tseguin@lasallepolice.ca.

From all of us at the LaSalle Police Service and the community we serve, thank you wonderful community partnership and support Rick and Minela Orum!
