Meaningful Partnerships With the Community and Joint Problem Solving are the Backbone to Effective Community Policing

Meaningful partnerships with the community and joint problem solving are the backbone to effective community policing.

The LaSalle Police Service C.O.A.S.T. is a partnership between the LaSalle Police Service and Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare.  A LaSalle Police Officer and a Social Worker comprise the team who provide in-home assessment and support to individuals with mental health and/or addiction needs to persons 16 years of age or older who reside in the Town of LaSalle.  C.O.A.S.T works collaboratively with individuals in developing a support plan linking them to community resources with the goal of reducing further police or hospital intervention.

The LaSalle Police Service continues to forge community partnerships to seek preventions and resolutions to a number of community issues.  One such long time partner is the St. Andrew’s LaSalle Community Food Bank.

By working together, these community partners, the LaSalle Police Service C.O.A.S.T. (Community Outreach and Support Team) member, Senior Constable Bonnie Racine and St. Andrew’s LaSalle Community Food Bank, Sue Desjarlais were able to provide support to a resident in need today by delivering them some much needed food items.

The LaSalle Police Service is deeply proud of the relationship of mutual respect and collaboration we have with our community partners.  When we work together the possibilities are endless.

Thank you LaSalle!
