The LaSalle Police Service would like to welcome all of our students back to school.
Motorists are reminded to be extra cautious as our students, pedestrians, crossing guards and buses will be present on our streets and sidewalks on their way to and from school as of September 6th, 2022.
Expect to see increased pedestrian traffic in all areas of the Town and we ask for your patience with our students, school crossing guards, and school buses. The school crossing guards and bus drivers are doing their best to keep our children safe on their journey to school and we ask that you do your part as well. Please show them as much courtesy as possible. They are out there looking after our children in the best and the worst of weather. If you get a chance please thank them for their service to the community. Be aware and focused on your driving and surroundings. Drivers who fail to obey a school crossing guard stop sign could receive a fine of up to $730.00 and four demerit points.
School buses will be operating as normal and motorists will need to expect the usual delays when the buses pick up our students. It has been a couple of months since we had school buses on our roadways and we remind motorists to always stop when the red flashing lights are illuminated. Aside from the obvious danger of traveling past a school bus that is stopped or stopping with its lights flashing will result in a fine of $490.00 and six demerit points.
Through patience, caution, and awareness of our surroundings we can all work together to ensure the safety of our students and crossing guards. Drive safe everyone. Let’s look out for each other.
