Arson at Essex Golf and Country Club

Over the past 3 weeks there have been 2 attempts at setting fire to structures in & around the pool area at Essex Golf & Country Club. During the first reported incident which occurred the night of July 27th, suspect(s) attempted to set fire to a small wooden shed that is used as a lifeguard hut / storage in the enclosed pool area. Impaired Driver

On Tuesday August 22, 2017 at approximately 10:28 PM, officers were dispatched to the area of Gary Ave and Michigan Ave in respect to an erratic driver. The vehicle was observed driving over the lawn in the area. Officers located the vehicle, which was driving westbound on Gary Ave. A female driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. An Intoxylizer test was conducted and the driver was found to have 350 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, over four times the legal limit. She was transported to hospital because of her high reading. Robert Carrick Tunnel Dedication Ceremony

On August 23, 1969, Constable Robert Carrick of the Township of Sandwich West Police Force was fatally shot while responding to a report of a Domestic Assault at a home on Sprucewood Avenue. Constable Carrick was able to save the lives of the suspect’s wife, child & their baby sitter, by getting them to safety behind his police cruiser, before being fatally shot by the suspect. Suspect Charged with Possession of Drugs, Stolen Motorcycle

On Tuesday, August 15, 2017 just before 5:00 PM, Windsor Police Service – Communication Centre provided information to the LaSalle Police Service regarding a stolen motorcycle. LaSalle Police Service – Communication Centre was advised that an unknown person had just stolen a motorcycle from St. Clair College and was headed into LaSalle. Sexual Assault Review

On April 16, 2016 a Freedom of Information request was received by LaSalle Police Service from the Globe and Mail Newspaper requesting statistical information on Sexual Assault Investigations from 2010 – 2014.  The request was received and processed by the LaSalle Police Service. Unfortunately, sexual assault occurrences were erroneously categorized as “Unfounded” in all cases in which a charge was not laid. Thefts from Motor Vehicles

We have had several thefts from unlocked vehicles reported over the past week. Last night someone stole a set of golf clubs from a vehicle parked on Outram Ave. Another resident called us at 4:00 AM to report that they saw a young white male going through their cars in the 500 block of Grondin. This male fled the area before police arrived. An extensive search of the area was conducted but proved to be unfruitful. Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident

LaSalle Police Service is currently investigating a fatal single vehicle collision. The collision occurred earlier this afternoon, just after 3:30 P.M. on Monty St.  between Malden Road and Matchette Road A Dodge Ram pick-up truck  was travelling east bound on Monty St. when it left the roadway and struck a light pole on the north side of the road. The lone occupant of the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Technical Collision Reconstruction officers are conducting the investigation. Cyclist Hit

On Tuesday, June 27th, 2017 at approximately 4:30 PM, a young cyclist was riding east on Maple St. going through the intersection at Michigan Avenue. A northbound vehicle which had stopped for the stop sign, proceeded through the intersection and struck the cyclist. The female driver got out of her vehicle and said something like, “I was stopped and you’re supposed to stop. It’s not my fault”. She then got back in her Van/SUV and left. Cyber Spat

A local woman attended the station to file a harassment complaint against a former co-worker. What started off as an innocent chat on Facebook Messenger ended up getting mean spirited, and found its way to the police station’s front lobby. The two women who were involved in this incident are adults and should have known better then to continue a belligerent/hurtful chat. Since both participated in the conversation equally, they were advised they shared equal responsibility in the matter.
