LaSalle Police report #’s 21-10663, 21-10664, 21-10666, 21-10671

The LaSalle Police Service is reminding everyone to lock their vehicles and doors, especially at night, after investigating four reports on December 8th that police believe are related. Police are also urging everyone to NOT leave anything of value inside your vehicle, regardless of whether it is locked or not. These items include but are not limited to keys to any vehicle or house, money, purses, wallets, electronics, etc.

The following related incidents occurred between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM on December 8th, 2021:

1) Theft from a motor vehicle from Brooklyn Avenue. The vehicle was parked in the driveway and was accidentally left unlocked. Several items including a wallet and purse were stolen.

2) Theft of a black 2006 BMW 325 from Brooklyn Avenue. A second vehicle that was parked in the driveway was left unlocked and the spare keys to the BMW were stolen from within. The BMW was stolen and has not yet been recovered.

3) Attempted theft from motor vehicle on Todd Lane. A person was captured on surveillance video trying the door handles on vehicles parked in the driveway at a residence. The vehicles were locked and the suspect moved on.

4) Break and Enter – Garage on Bondy Avenue. A homeowner reported that their garage had been entered overnight and an impact driver was stolen from within. There were no signs of forced entry.

These incidents remain under investigation.

While the blame for such incidents lies exclusively with the person(s) committing these crimes there are things that we can all do to reduce our chances of becoming a victim of theft. Check out our information video on #lockitorloseit here: LaSalle Police Service Presents Lock it or Lose it.
