Prohibited Driver Arrested Following Suspicious Activity in Commercial Area

Report # 24-1080

On February 14, 2024, at approximately 4:30 AM, a LaSalle Police Officer was completing a property check at a commercial location on the east side of LaSalle when they observed a vehicle operating suspiciously on the property. The vehicle was slowly driving around the rear of the stores which were all closed at the time.

The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver and upon further investigation, it was determined that the driver, a 37-year-old male from Windsor, was operating the vehicle while being prohibited from driving due to previous criminal offences. He was also suspended from driving for medical reasons and for unpaid fines.

Officers also discovered that the male had been removing items from the store dumpsters.
The male was arrested and charged criminally with driving while prohibited and his vehicle was impounded for 45 days. He was also issued two summonses for driving while suspended and will be required to appear in court to answer to all three charges.

The LaSalle Police Service remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community. We urge residents to report any suspicious activity promptly.
