Shoplifting Arrest Results is Assault on Loss Prevention Officer

A 60-year-old female from Windsor is facing charges of theft under $5000.00 and assault with intent to resist arrest after a shoplifting incident turned violent.

On the 15th day of May 2021 just after 4:30 PM, a loss prevention officer at Zehrs in LaSalle attempted to arrest the female for theft (shoplifting) as she exited the store without paying for almost $200 worth of unpaid merchandise. The LPO observed her conceal the stolen items in a tote and leave the store without paying for any of it. The LPO confronted her just outside the store and advised her that she was under arrest for theft. She threw a cup of hot coffee at him, ran to her vehicle and fled the area. The LPO was not injured.

Through investigation, the female was identified and later arrested by LaSalle Police Officers and charged with the offences.
