Stunt Driving Charge for Speeding on Front Road

Case # 22-213

A 24 year old male from Windsor was charged with drive motor vehicle – perform stunt after he was clocked on radar operating his Toyota sedan at 100 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone on Front Road on Tuesday, January 11th at 10:30 p.m.

A LaSalle Police Officer observed the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed which was recorded on radar. The officer stopped the vehicle and issued the driver with a summons for Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Speeding, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. As a result of the charge, his drivers licence was automatically suspended for a period of 30 days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for a period of 14 days, for which he will be responsible for all associated towing and storage fees.

If convicted, he will face a fine of not less than $2000.00 and his licence could be suspended for not more than two years (if this is a first conviction) and not more than ten years on any subsequent conviction.

Every kilometer you travel over the speed limit increases your stopping distance and decreases your ability to avoid a hazard. As your speed increases so does everyone’s chances of being injured or killed if you are involved in a collision.
Please drive safely and follow the rules of the road.
