Three Citizens Thanked by LaSalle Police Chief Davies

This morning, Chief Davies personally expressed his gratitude to Christie Kovosi, Willow James, and Maya James for their quick thinking and outstanding actions in aiding an individual in distress within our community.

The officers and communicators that were involved with the call for service were present to meet with the trio as Chief Davies presented them with a letter of thanks and a Chief’s Citizen Award coin for their exemplary responsiveness and exceptional conduct in this difficult situation.

Their timely intervention and assistance not only averted potential harm or fatality but also expedited the LaSalle Police Service in successfully locating and providing support of the distressed individual.

Their actions exemplify what it is to be a community…looking out for one another.  Their actions also exemplify Sir Robert Peel’s 7th principle to community policing… “To maintain at all times a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and that the public are the police, the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.”

We commend their courage and compassion in taking the appropriate action at that critical moment, affording another individual a second chance at life.

Well done and thank you!
