Motor Vehicle vs Pedestrian

On August 15, 2019, officers attended the intersection of Front Road and Old Front Road for a report of a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking their dog south on Front Road at International. This intersection has created several issues. Traffic Stop

On August 13, 2019, an officer was travelling southbound on Highway 18 behind a small pick up truck. The officer queried the licence plate as the validation sticker was expired. A traffic stop was initiated and upon approaching the driver’s side of the vehicle the officer could smell a strong smell of alcohol from inside the vehicle. The officer then demanded a breath sample which resulted in a reading of 50-100 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. Property Found

On August 11, 2019, in the early morning hours, LaSalle Police officers were conducting a general patrol of Todd Lane . During the patrol an officer observed a person in all black with a pink back on a bike. The officer observed the person pull into a driveway and run behind a home. The officer went around back of the home and observed the bike and bag but no person. In the bag was a variety of property that had been reported stolen from numerous vehicles in the area. Driving Complaint Resulting in 3-Day Suspension

On August 11, 2019, LaSalle Police Dispatch received a driving complaint of a possible impaired driver travelling north on Front Road. Officers responded to the area and stopped the vehicle on Ojibway Parkway just North of Weaver Road. A breath sample provided by the lone male driver registered 50 mg or more of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. The male was later issued a 3 day licence suspension.

Roadside Suspension

August 9, 2019, At 9:30 PM, A LaSalle Police Officer stopped a vehicle on Martin Lane after observing it passing a vehicle on a curve in an unsafe manner. While speaking with the driver the officer detected a strong odour of alcohol. The officer demanded that the driver provide a sample of their breath into an approved roadside screening device. The test revealed that the driver had over 50 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. The driver was notified his license would be suspended for a period of 3 days and his license was seized. Motor Vehicle Collision

On August 6, 2019, at approximately 11:00 am, officers attended the 8600 block of Howard Avenue for a single motor vehicle collision. The involved vehicle ended up on its side. Officers closed down the roadway during their investigation and determined the driver had attempted to pass a commercial vehicle but there was another vehicle travelling directly to them. The driver overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle causing it to flip on its side. The driver was trapped in their vehicle and was assisted out by LaSalle Fire Service. On August 5, 2019, at approximately 3:53PM officers were called out to a report of theft of the St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation for Veteran’s donation box at Zehrs Great Food on Malden Road, LaSalle. A volunteer for the organization was stationed at a table outside the main entrance to the store, accepting donations, when a male party approached the table took the donation box. Driving Complaint

On August 4, 2019, LaSalle Police officers were requested to attend Front Road near Laurier Drive for a driving complaint regarding an elderly male travelling southbound and at times on the wrong side of the roadway. Officers were able to locate the vehicle in question on Front Road near Victory Street. They observed several other vehicles travelling near the subject vehicle, attempting to get the driver to stop as they believed he was in medical distress.
