Burglary on 10th St.

During the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 14 unknown suspect(s) entered a house on Tenth St. The suspect(s) stole numerous items, including a 2016 black Kia Sorento, with Ontario licence plates CASY140, a black Iphone, two Apple Ipads – one with red cover and the other had no cover, an HP tablet with a blue case, an Acer Aspire Laptop – Silver 15.4″ screen, a Coach Purse – red -with long strap. Break and Enter

On Sunday, August 5 2018 at 3:04 AM, officers of the LaSalle Police Service were dispatched for a possible break and enter in progress at Clearwater Marine Services located at 2476 Front Road. The caller had observed two males at the rear of the facility who appeared to be trying to break in. Several officers quickly arrived on scene and observed two individuals trying to leave on foot and a white Nissan pick-up truck with the rear tailgate and doors open. LaSalle Man Charged With Child Pornography

On August 2nd members of the Ontario Provincial Police Child Sexual Exploitation and Digital Forensics Units along with officers from the LaSalle Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence in LaSalle seizing numerous computer devices. The warrant and evidence seized were part of a 7 month long child pornography investigation conducted by the OPP. Police arrested and charged a 34 year old male one count of Making Available Child Pornography, two counts of Possession of Child Pornography under the Criminal Code. The male was later released from custody by a Justice of the Peace after a bail hearing.

LaSalle Police Conduct R.I.D.E. Spotchecks

During the evening hours of Saturday July 14 and into the early morning hours of Sunday July 15, Officers of the LaSalle Police Service conducted R.I.D.E. spot-checks at several locations throughout the Town of LaSalle. Over 571 drivers were interviewed to establish if they had been consuming any alcoholic beverages before getting behind the wheel. 14 drivers were subjected to roadside breath tests and 3 drivers’s had their licences suspended for 3 days. In addition to checking for drinking and driving, Officers issued several cautions for traffic related infractions including burnt out headlights and not having up to date documentation.

OPP/LaSalle PS Gun Amnesty – April 2018 Ontario Provincial Police and LaSalle Police are holding a month-long gun amnesty program in April 2018 The Amnesty will apply to any documented or undocumented firearms and other weapons and accessories. Automated Licence Plate System

The LaSalle Police Service will soon be deploying an Automatic Licence Plate Recognition System equipped vehicle. The system was recently purchased using funds received through a provincial grant to combat Human Trafficking. The system will be in use in areas where Human Trafficking may be occurring as well as other areas of the Town of LaSalle. The Automated Licence Plate Recognition System (ALPRS), which is installed on a marked police cruiser, automatically scans licence plates up to 20 metres away. Storage Lockers Broken Into

On Tuesday Oct. 17th, 2017 at around 2:00 AM the LaSalle Police Communications Centre received a call regarding a Burglary in progress at the Self Storage facility located at 777 Front Road. LaSalle. The caller reported seeing two males in the area who maybe involved in the burglary. Officers were dispatched immediately and converged on the area. A thorough search was conducted for the suspects and some of the stolen property was found propped up against a fence nearby. On October 12, 2017, around 4:30 AM a Robbery took place at the Mac’s Convenience store located at 2055 Heritage Drive.A white male possibly in his mid 20’s, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, medium build entered the store. He waited at the check out counter for the clerk to attend. Once the clerk arrived at the counter he demanded money from the clerk. Narcan Spray Issued to LPS Officers

The LaSalle Police Service has started issuing Narcan Intranasal Spray to it’s officers. Narcan is the brand name for Naloxone which is administered to a subject that is suspected of suffering an opioid overdose. The Narcan spray has been issued as a health and safety measure for LPS officers who may come in contact with an opioid and is not for use on members of the public at this time.
