Motor Vehicle – Speeding with no Insurance

On September 23, 2019, an officer was on general patrol conducting radar on River Ave at Front Road. The officer observed a vehicle travelling at a much higher rate of speed then the posted speed limit. The officer activated the radar device and found that the vehicle was travelling at 79 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver surrendered his license, permit and proof of insurance which was expired. The driver was issued a Part III Summons for speeding as well as driving without insurance. The driver will have a court date in front of a Justice of the Peace who will determine their culpability in this matter. The minimum fine for a first offence of driving without insurance is $5000.00.
