On August 13, 2019, an officer was travelling southbound on Highway 18 behind a small pick up truck. The officer queried the licence plate as the validation sticker was expired. A traffic stop was initiated and upon approaching the driver’s side of the vehicle the officer could smell a strong smell of alcohol from inside the vehicle. The officer then demanded a breath sample which resulted in a reading of 50-100 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. The male was issued two provincial offense notices, one for driving with an expired permit and one for novice driver with a blood alcohol level above zero. The male was also suspended from driving for a period of 7 days.
